As die-hard fans of the Pretentious Ingredients series, we were absolutely thrilled (and mildly embarrassed) to be featured in this episode.
Let’s get one thing straight: This is     See More
One of my favourite wines. Not so expensive here in NZ and def not pretentious
It always amazes me how many backstage staff these sort of YouTube shows have
Fantastic episode, thank you for the US denomination for each ingredient.
Lol, the last item is from a swedish brand that you otherwise can find a little here and there. Their regular products are affordable.
Did a small dig, and it sounds like they did it     See More
Well, considering the vast majority of the world's crude is expected to be from algae, it's fitting that somebody's found a way to speed up the process.

Let’s get one thing straight: This is     See More project. And when we say 100% of the revenue (not the profits) goes to charity, we mean it—every single ridiculous penny.
That said, this is also the most pretentious thing we have ever done, and we stand by it with the enthusiasm of a hipster discovering oat milk in 2012.
Normally, we make liquorice for the masses with a price tag at a reasonable £8-£15. But this time, we threw caution (and financial sense) to the wind and asked ourselves, What if Willy Wonka had an unlimited black card?
So, why does this liquorice cost more than your monthly rent? Glad you asked. It’s all about the ingredients:
The Offensively Luxurious Lineup:
Liquorice from Calabria – SEK 360/kg (£28/kg)
The Beyoncé of liquorice. Sourced from Calabria, where the flavour is so elite it probably refuses to associate with lesser liquorices.
Dried Sturgeon Caviar – SEK 15,700/kg (£1,210/kg)
Regular caviar? Please. This is caviar that went through a glow-up via a top-secret drying technique. Fun fact: 5 kg of fresh caviar is sacrificed for every 1 kg of this bougie dust.
100-Year-Old Balsamic Vinegar – SEK 79,990/litre (£6,150/litre)
Aged longer than your great-grandfather. Handcrafted by the legendary Giuseppe Giusti in Modena, Italy, where they’ve been fermenting greatness since the 1700s. Only 50 bottles are filled per year—because, of course.
Piedmont Hazelnuts
These hazelnuts have passports and probably a better skincare routine than you. Gently roasted over an extended period, just like fine artisanal coffee.
White Alba Truffle – €10,500/kg (£9,290/kg)
If wealth had a scent, it would be this truffle. Grown in Alba, Italy, freeze-dried for an even more dramatic flavor punch, and, oh yeah, contains a compound similar to human pheromones. So, if this liquorice makes people fall in love with you, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Black Périgord Truffle – €8,000/kg (£7,080/kg)
Known as the "Empress beneath the Earth" (and possibly your wallet’s worst nightmare). Harvested in France, then freeze-dried because fresh just wasn’t fancy enough.
Japanese Snow Salt – SEK 630/kg (£48/kg)
Sourced from the coral reefs of Miyakojima Island, this salt is rumored to be the most mineral-rich (and most unnecessarily decadent) seasoning on the planet.
So there you have it. The most unnecessarily luxurious, outrageously pretentious, and absurdly expensive liquorice in existence—all for a good cause. Would we do it again? Absolutely. Would we recommend eating it while wearing a monocle and sipping champagne? Highly encouraged.    See Less

Nah --- most pretentious is still that $100+ bottle of water.     See Less
All wine is infected with fungus
