That Eel looks out of this world. When I lived in Japan, I've had many kinds of Eel preparations in restaurants that have been around for years. Eel seems to be that kind of food that on     See More er restaurants prepare in their own way. Each has its own secret recipes. The kind that you had is again a traditional Japanese form of serving that is so ancient. The lacquer boxes hints at the Bento boxes.    See Less

I love eel so much from my limited experiences of it here in America. Once upon a time, I was not an adventureous eater, but now I love nothing more than exploring the cultures all across th     See More specially through their food and few are more precious to me than Japanese cuisine. Not only is the food just amazing and the traditions cultivated to perfection over so many centuries, but the sheer difference across the whole continent, the seasonal loves, the hospitality and just the very calm and inviting atmosphere and culture all around. It's as therapuetic to watch as it is to enjoy even in the tiny places here and there that I can find in my own place in the states. I saw much of the "alien fish" through an episode with Sonny Side in The Best Ever Food Review Show, and it's so fun to watch the difference in experience that elevates the story between two people who absolutely love culture, and learning a people and a nation through the food. From the side streets with hidden gems far beyond the busy cities (not that they don't have their own merit!), but learning how people lived and grew in a culture so much more ancient than our own. It's beautiful and always leaves my mouth watering XD. This is definitely a series that has helped me hash out one of my most important, if not the most important, bucket list travel for my life.
Thank you Mark to you, your crew, your family, and your wonderful passion that teaches us so much even from so far!    See Less
