My local sushi place has monorails. They used to use cat robots but switched them out this year due to the robots malfunctioning every time someone spilt water on the floor

I love the throwback to the simpsons 😂

My first sushi experience as a 12 year old was with little boats in a little canal (in the 80's and sadly gone now). But it moved slowly enough for you to pick and choose (whereas the monorail delivers what you order). Both are much more fun than a conveyer belt. I feel like some sort of helicopter or hang glider theme would be cute too.

If you get offended by someone mispronouncing something, you've got nothing going on in your life

Can't wait for a robot to replace Barry ... he seems fine with them replacing humans.

Monorail!!

Here on Hawaii, we have something similar at Genki Sushi. It started out with conveyor belts for years, and recently moved into using a rail system. Probably to minimize wasted food. Love that you got a cool new experience!

I'm sooo jealous, that all looks amazing!

@aly7515  1 year ago

Oh, they're calling it monorail instead of conveyor belt? That's cute! They're great!

@AlvinTheLAW  1 year ago

This isnt really new. Maybe in the western world perhaps.

We in Hong Kong has had "monorail" sushi since I would say 2015. This was to replace the original Kaiten (conveyor belts)style in favour of freshness of the sushi and hygine

@chuchuchuchia  1 year ago

Interesting that in the US this is referred to as conveyor belt sushi

If I remember well there was a monorail sushi restaurant at Oxford Street in 2017.

@TwistyKitty  1 year ago

That isn't how you say "gyoza." My years learning the language is making that ding hurt.

@Mel-uq6ni  1 year ago

"Guy-oza" "✅️" 🤨

@beckycaughel7557  1 year ago

So because they don’t have to pay servers does that mean that the restaurant is less expensive?
