If a restaurant does this and charges more for it it's dumb. If someone wants to try this at home, so long as they're willing to do the extra dishes, I think it's harmless fun.
In a restaurant it might be amusing (if the wait staff stay to immediately remove the filthy glass), but at home it would just be stupid. More awkward things to watch, sauce dripping on the table when the glass is put to the side, etc. 0/10 would not try in the first place. Also, the parmesan ends up in an awful little pile instead of nicely dispersed.
I love the way Mike throws the parmasan on the pasta and then tells Barry to hurry up before it goes cold lol. Love these guys. They've kept me and my husband going over the last year β€β€
Itβs done itβs wasteful I donβt see the point. if youβre asking what I mean by wasteful using a wine glass but thereβs no wine in it to put pasta in when you could put that just as easily on a plate same goes for the cheese on top. Itβs a waste of space and time and cleaning up.
Hereβs my unimportant two cents: if youβre gonna go through the trouble of putting it in the wine glass just eat it straight out of the wine glassβ¦..
I look at these trends and i always ask if i could swap the serving method and if it would still feel fancy. Like omurice, i dont have that shaping dish, but it works fine with a small bowl, a ramekin or even a measuring cup (just for shape not presentation). Recipe books that show mousse served in a wine glass, turns out just as well with a cyclone glass, a rocks glass, a curvy coke glass, milkshake cup, heck even a mug or an old peanut butter jar. i dont think this trend would work with any other glassware so it's a waste of time in my eyes.
The reason why you put it in a wine glass, is so that you can charge 20-30 dollars or pounds more for dish. It's one of the more shameless dining trends we've seen recently

This is only one small step away from r/wewantplates

I hated that Ebbers of all people was on board with this crap...
Now youβve got two dishes to wash instead of just the plate. π
This is the sort of thing a dad who never does the dishes would pull.

Iβm w/Baz on this one β I do not want to spend who knows how long getting dried cheese out of those wine glasses.
Now hang on, people like wine and cheese, you don't need a board for the cheese anymore.

I prefer my pasta in a wine glass. And a big plate of wine to lick up.
"why not put it in a wineglass".. Why the f*ck would I? it's inconvenient, looks silly and just dirties a glass for no reason.

As if we didn't need to wash more dishes.π
