My mom had an auto opening can. After 6 months it would just randomly pop open during the day. Drained the batteries so much it just became a garbage can you opened by hand. It had a tab on the lid thankfully.

I have this. It also responds to “Open Bin.” Pro-tip, keep the sensor out of direct sunlight. Also, visitors love forcing the lid open when they first encounter it. We’ve got a foggy sensor and a floppy lid.
This would be better if it was that but without the need to plug it in at all or even having a motion sensor. Theee ars things that dont need a computer shoving in them
