had an old fashioned pressure cooker - the one with the dancing weight sitting on the top. Made a nice batch of spag bol sauce and somehow the little weight fell off the pressure cooker. There was a massive red geyser of tomato sauce hitting the ceiling - what a clean up job. There still remains I am sure , a yellowish stain on the ceiling which is probably causing the new tenants to ponder over how that happened
Reminds me of a story from when I was just 5 or 6 years old. My mom was working on something in her makeshift office, in a room next to the kitchen. She was so engrossed in her work, she didn't notice my tiny self had gotten into the cupboard. And found an unopened 2 liter of Coca-cola. And rolled it around a whole bunch. And then rolled it under her desk. She did notice when the bottle hit something sharp under the desk and started spewing sugary, sticky soda all over her legs and desk. She very quickly picked it up and ran to the kitchen where she tried and failed to minimize the chaos. She was not happy with me. Even after cleaning it up, there were still soda stains on the ceiling. They lasted at least 13 years. I would check if they're still there, but our family sold the house some time back.
Something like that happened to me with pancake batter and a mixer. Super annoyingly complicated recipe for lemon-blueberry pancakes my wife asked me to make one morning. I was a bit hung over and at some point lowered the KitchenAid mixing bowl while the whisk was still whirling. I had meant to turn it off. Batter went everywhere. I was cursing and when I tried to turn it off I set it to high and that made things even worse. In the aftermath we were finding bits of dried pancake batter literally for over a year. From now on those pancakes are referred to as "mother f-ing pancakes."
